Social Media Manager - The Social Media Manager leads and executes the Dogs for Veterans strategy and day-to-day operations in the social networking realm. This individual has hands-on responsibility for successfully increasing Dogs for Veterans visibility, influence, and interaction with its target markets through diverse, social media outlets. The right individual should be a creative, collaborative leader with a personal passion for animal rescue and an eagerness to bring new ideas/tactics designed to take Dogs for Veterans to the next level. The position is intially 10-15 hours per month and will become a full time position in the future.

 

Philanthropy Operations - The Manager of Philanthropy Operations leads and executes the Dogs for Veterans fund raising strategy.

Experience: Minimum of one - two years of management experience managing and working with a team. Minimum of one - two years of fund development operations experience in a animal rescue, veterans or educational institution setting preferred.   Experience with annual giving, stewardship events, gift processing, prospect research, and analyzing fundraising data.  Proven track record managing all aspects of a development operation.  Experience in major gift solicitation helpful.  Demonstrated success in interpreting and applying professional fundraising practices and procedures required.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of the donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship process.  Thorough knowledge of fundraising methodologies, activities and programs.  Knowledge of current trends in charitable giving, particularly in the areas of capital campaigns, major gifts and planned giving. Knowledge of how to identify major donors and solicit their participation in philanthropy programs.  Knowledge of fundraising databases, and fundraising policies and procedures.  Knowledge of Veterans Administration practices and procedures, Americans with Disabilities Act, and various veterans groups preferred.

Special Skills: Must be self directed and have the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and complete assignments within established timeframes.  Excellent problem solving and analytical skills especially as it relates to database and financial management. Ability to develop written reports and proposals.  Excellent communication skills (written/ verbal/ presentation) with all levels of staff.  Effective utilization of positive interpersonal skills, including negotiation and persuasion.  Effective supervisory and leadership skills required.  Demonstrated ability to seek information on own initiative, maintain a high level of customer service satisfaction and set goals which are challenging yet realistic.  Exceptional project management skills and the ability to lead others required. Must be able to work effectively with high level executives at the affiliate and regional level.  Must also be able to work effectively with donors. High productivity and demonstrated excellence at customer service. Excellent analytical and listening skills. The position is intially 20 hours per week and will become a full time position in the future.
